WRAPA Conducts Workshop For Women Journalists In Sokoto

The workshop with the theme “The Role of Women Journalists in the Reforms of the Democratic Processes in Nigeria” was organized by Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) and Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in collaboration with Humint Development Consult Ltd.

In his remarks, the Sokoto NUJ council Chairman Usman Muhammad Binji expressed his pleasure in attending the workshop, highlighting the critical role women journalists play in Nigeria’s political evolution and democratic development. 

He noted that women journalists have made significant contributions to nation-building and democratic processes, including Informing the Public.

Women journalists have been instrumental in keeping the public informed on key issues that include Influencing Policy. 

They have played a crucial role in shaping policy decisions through amplifying Marginalized Voices. 

Binji also asserted that Women journalists have given a platform to marginalized voices, promoting inclusivity and diversity coupled with Nation-building. 

“Their contributions have been immense, demonstrating courage and resilience in the face of challenges”.

Binji underscores the importance of women journalists in Nigeria’s democratic journey. As the newly elected chairman of the Sokoto State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Binji has pledged to promote unity, solidarity, advocacy, professionalism, and collective purpose within the union.
