The Gideon and Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation has called for immediate justice following last week’s massacre in Yelwata village, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, where over 200 people were reportedly killed.
The Foundation condemned the brutal attack, describing it as an act of targeted genocide bordering on ethnic cleansing.
Reverend Gideon Para-Mallam, President of the Foundation, made the call while leading a humanitarian intervention team to the affected community to distribute relief materials to survivors.
According to our correspondent, the Foundation donated 50 bags of 50kg rice, five large bags of beans, several items of clothing, and a cash donation of ₦1 million to support affected families.
“These senseless killings must stop. I call on the Federal Government to do everything within its power to end this carnage,” Reverend Para-Mallam stated.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for visiting Benue State and urged him to extend similar visits to other crisis-hit areas such as Plateau, Katsina, Zamfara, and Maiduguri, including holding town hall meetings to hear directly from survivors.
Speaking during the visit, Titus Terfa Abbah, a youth leader in Yelwata, said the community has been under siege for years and called on security agencies to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.
“Our people deserve to live in peace, free from fear and violence. What is happening today is a humanitarian tragedy that demands urgent attention, justice, and lasting solutions—not silence or political excuses,” Abbah said.
He urged the government, security agencies, and relevant stakeholders to act decisively in protecting residents and ensuring that justice is served.
