Zamfara state governor Hon.Bello Muhammad Matawalle has today kept his pledge by actualising the release and granting complete freedom to 100 Fulani convicts serving various prison terms for offences connected to banditry.
Addressing the beneficiaries in the Gusau prison yard, the governor said the amnesty becomes most desired in view of its significance to the ongoing peace initiative process for the restoration of lasting peace in the state.
Governor Bello explained that the gesture is part of the governments
efforts towards actualising genuine and sustainable peace from the reconciliation agenda to pave way for grassroot development in the state.
He however urged the beneficiaries of the gesture to develop a clean slate of life outside the prison, advising them never to blame anybody for what befell them during their period of confinement, while calling on communities to receive and reintegrate them into the larger society.
He also call on the people of the state to always cooperate with government and acknowledge its policies and programmes for the development of the state
