AIbom LG boss donates relief Items to Victims of Fire disaster

The Chairman of Itu Local Government of Akwa Ibom Mr Etetim Onuk has donated relief materials worth thousands of naira to victims of last week fire incident that rendered several people homeless and destroyed several properties at Mbak Itam.

Presenting the items to the affected persons at the Council Secretariat, Mbak Atai Onuk said that the Council share in the victims moment of grief and that in line with Christian injunctions, the Local Government administration deemed it necessary to intervene by providing succor to them.

He commended every arm of governance in the Local Government, as well as the Moderator, Akwa Synod of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Rev Obong Ndueso Obong, for their timely response and assistance to the affected occupants of the fire disaster.

The chairman stated that the Council has also notified the office of the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, as well as other relevant emergency management agencies, for possible assistance to alleviate their suffering.

He commended the member Representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency; Hon. Barr Ime Okon for his timely support describing him as a good neighbor.

The council chairman expressed his heartfelt condolences to the landlord and the tenants urging them not to lose hope.

The landlord, Mr. Ita Okon Tom thanked the Council for their assistance and also appealed to the State Government to intervene.

Items presented the chairman include; Mattress, beddings, clothing, toiletries; rice, garri, pastas, beverages, as well as cash.
