‎Oyetola inaugurates 6-man committee to boost, health sector

A six-man committee to oversee the activities of health sector in the state have been inaugurated by the state governor, Mr Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola.

The Committee Chaired by Mr Governor himself, was saddled with the responsibility of reviving and revitalizing the health sector.

The Committee called “Osun State Special Health Intervention and Revitalization”, is expected to review the state of the health sector for efficient and effective healthcare delivery.

Apart from Mr. Governor who is the Chairman of the Committee, other members of the Committee include, former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, Dr. Simeon Afolayan, Professor Adeyinka Aderinto, former Commissioner for Science, Innovation and Technology, Engineer Remi Omowaye and former Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji.

The Committee according to Governor Oyetola will leverage on the quick rehabilitation and revitalization of 332 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state.

Oyetola said the present administration in the state decided to constitute the Committee as part of efforts to meet the critical needs of the citizenry on health sector.

Governor Oyetola said the development is in line with the agenda of his administration to build healthy citizens by ensuring that every resident of the state has access to health facilities.

He added that the gesture will further help to make life easier for the people particularly people at the grassroot who hitherto have some challenges.

Oyetola said the rehabilitation and revitalization process will be run under the auspices of the Ministry of Health which will champion the success of the initiative.

“This is a reflection of our commitment to ensure free healthcare delivery at primary and secondary levels. It shows that we take health sector seriously and that we are paying serious attention to the health sector.

“This is to show that we have health as one of the critical sectors to be improved upon within100 days‎of our administration.

“Apart from the fact that this state had recorded huge success in building infrastructure in all sectors, we are going to maintain the tempo of development in the health sector and ensure that they are fully revitalized.

“So, when we talk about revitalization, it is not about making the hospital beautiful, but it also entails the provision of drugs, personnel and making sure that the infrastructure is good”, he added.

The former Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu ‎‎who spoke on behalf of members of the Committee pledged to work and support the Governor at actualizing the dreams.

He assured Mr Governor that the Committee would deliver on the mandate given to it, saying “we will ensure that before the 100 days of Mr. Governor in office a lot of achievements are made.”
