10 ways to avoid body odour during hot weather

As temperatures soar, so does the battle against body odour. Coping with bad body odour during hot weather can be challenging, but it’s not impossible. Here are ten effective ways to keep body odour at bay when the heat is on:

1. Shower Frequently: Make it a habit to shower at least twice a day to wash away sweat and bacteria that contribute to odour.

2. Trim Body Hair: Body hair traps sweat and bacteria, so consider shaving or trimming hair in areas prone to sweating, such as the underarms and pubic region.

3. Choose Breathable Fabrics: Opt for loose-fitting clothing made from natural fibres like cotton, which allow the skin to breathe and sweat to evaporate. Avoid synthetic fabrics like polyester that can trap moisture and exacerbate odour.

4. Use Antibacterial Soap: Incorporate antibacterial soap into your daily shower routine to help reduce odour-causing bacteria on your skin.

5. Thoroughly Dry Your Body: After showering, ensure to thoroughly dry your body with a towel, paying close attention to areas prone to sweating, such as the armpits, groin, and feet.

6. Harness the Power of Essential Oils: Essential oils like lavender, peppermint, or tea tree oil not only offer a pleasant natural fragrance but also possess mild antibacterial properties that combat body odour. Apply them to your skin or add them to your bathwater for lasting freshness.

7. Harness the Power of Citrus: Lemons and limes have natural antibacterial properties. Rubbing them on sweaty areas or adding a squeeze to your bathwater can keep you smelling fresh throughout the day.

8. Mind Your Diet: A healthy diet can impact body odour. Avoiding oily, fried, and spicy foods can help reduce sweating and body odour.

9. Use Deodorant and Antiperspirant: Deodorants mask odour, while antiperspirants control sweat production. Use both to effectively combat body odour in hot weather.

10. Try Apple Cider Vinegar: Diluted apple cider vinegar can help regulate skin pH, creating an environment less conducive to odour-causing bacteria. Apply it to areas prone to sweat for an added layer of protection against body odour.
