The Defence Headquarters unveiled the identities of terrorist leaders eliminated in various operations across northern Nigeria. Highlighting operations conducted between January and March 2024, the DHQ disclosed the demise of key terrorist figures.
Among those neutralized were Abu Bilal Minuki, alias Abubakar Mainok, the Head of Is-Al Furqan Province (ISGS and ISWAP), and Haruna Isiya Boderi, a notorious operative in the Birnin Gwari Forest of Kaduna State and along the Abuja-Kaduna highway. Boderi met his end on February 24, courtesy of military troops.
Other significant figures eliminated include Kachallah Damina, taken down on March 24 alongside more than 50 combatants, and a roster of other high-ranking terrorists: Kachallah Alhaji Dayi, Kachallah Idi (Namaidaro), Kachallah Kabiru (Doka), Kachallah Azarailu (Farin-Ruwa), Kachallah Balejo, Ubangida, Alhaji Baldu, among others.
Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed these details during a press briefing in Abuja, emphasizing the successful synchronization of ground and air strikes against terrorist hideouts. During the reporting period, a total of 2,351 terrorists were eliminated, 2,308 arrested, and 1,241 kidnap hostages rescued.
In addition to combat operations against terrorists, troops also cracked down on crude oil theft, recovering stolen products worth over N20 billion. The recovered items included millions of liters of stolen crude oil and refined petroleum products, thwarting illegal activities and safeguarding national resources.
