A teenager, Michael Olorunseun, who allegedly accosted a man and stole his money and phone, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Nineteen-year-old Olorunseun, who resides at No. 21, Iyalode St., Agege in Lagos State, was charged with conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
According to the Prosecutor, Sgt. Ishola Samuel, the defendant committed the theft with others still at large, on Jan. 15, at the National Filling Station, Capitol Junction, Agege.
Samuel said that the defendant and the others accosted one Mr Babatunde Babalola on his way to work and stole his N10,000 and his phone worth N10,000.
He noted that theft and conspiracy respectively contravened Section 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Daybreak.ng reports that Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.I. Abina, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case until April 15 for mention. (NAN)
