Sarah Martins Apologises to Zenith Bank, Confirms Recovery of Stolen ₦3 Million
Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has confirmed that the ₦3 million she earlier reported missing has been fully recovered, clarifying that the incident was not due to any fault on the part of Zenith Bank but the actions of a newly hired personal staff member.
The actress disclosed this in a public statement shared on her official Instagram page, @officialsarahmartins. She explained that the money was recovered with the assistance of the Nigeria Police Force and was traced to her employee, identified as Chike, whom she said she had employed shortly before the incident.
Sarah revealed that during the investigation, the staff member allegedly attempted to obstruct the process by issuing threats against her life. She added that the suspect was compelled to write an undertaking as part of the police investigation linked to the case involving Zenith Bank Plc.
In her statement, the actress publicly apologised to her Zenith Bank account officer, Ijeoma, for the criticism and backlash she faced following the incident. She admitted that her initial reaction was fueled by shock and emotional distress after noticing suspicious activity on her account, before discovering that the breach originated from within her home.
She also commended Zenith Bank for its swift and professional response, noting that the bank acted immediately after she raised the alarm and helped identify the culprit within 24 hours.
Sarah Martins concluded by expressing gratitude to both Zenith Bank and the Nigeria Police Force, stating that their prompt intervention was crucial to the recovery of the ₦3 million. The incident has since sparked online discussions about the importance of employee screening, internal controls, and the risks of granting sensitive access to newly hired staff.
