$200m Mega Poultry Project in Kaduna State to Generate $450m Annually — Uba Sani

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has announced that the proposed $200 million Mega Poultry Project in Kaduna State is expected to generate more than $450 million annually and create over 350,000 direct and indirect jobs across the state. The governor disclosed this on Thursday during a meeting with the Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, held to align federal and state efforts ahead of the project’s groundbreaking ceremony. He said the initiative would significantly boost food security, empower smallholder farmers, and position Kaduna as a major hub for modern agribusiness in Africa.

According to Governor Sani, the Mega Poultry Project is designed to strengthen the agricultural value chain by integrating production, processing, packaging, and distribution at scale. He noted that the project would also enhance livelihoods by providing opportunities for farmers, youth, and agribusiness entrepreneurs.“

The Mega Poultry Project will not only increase output but will also deepen food security, expand our agro-industrial base, and create sustainable employment for hundreds of thousands of people,” the governor said. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selecting Kaduna State to spearhead the initiative, describing the decision as a recognition of the state’s strategic importance in Nigeria’s agricultural transformation agenda. Governor Sani recalled that on December 7, 2025, he led a delegation to China at the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, where he toured CP Foods Layers and Eggs (Beijing) Ltd, one of Asia’s leading poultry production companies.

During the visit, the governor said he was taken through the entire production chain of the facility, from poultry rearing to egg processing, packaging, and distribution. He described the operation as highly efficient and technologically driven, producing nearly three million eggs daily.“ The experience was a defining step toward concluding our landmark $200 million Mega Poultry Project in Kaduna State,” Sani said. “Every stage of production reflected precision and innovation, transforming agriculture into an exacting and profitable enterprise.”

He added that the Kaduna project, which will be developed in partnership with Chinese investors, is expected to adopt similar technologies and global best practices to ensure efficiency, quality control, and competitiveness in both local and export markets. Governor Sani emphasized that collaboration between the federal and state governments remains critical to the success of the project, particularly in areas of policy alignment, infrastructure development, and investment facilitation.

The Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting large-scale livestock and poultry investments that align with the Renewed Hope Agenda. The Mega Poultry Project is expected to play a key role in reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported poultry products while strengthening domestic production and agribusiness value chains.
