2020 Budget contains frivolous, inappropriate, unclear and wasteful N150.07bn expenditure – Centre for Social Justice

By Jennifer Yusuf

On Wednesday, the Center for Social Justice failed the 2020 budget presented to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that the document contained ‘frivolous, inappropriate, unclear and wasteful N150.07bn expenditure.’

The group stated this in a report made available to newsmen by its chief executive officer, Eze Onyekpere.

The report analyzed approximately N10.33tn’s 2020 budget currently before the National Assembly.

The group in the report called for policymakers to review the tax document objectively and exclude any spending that would not have a good impact on people’s lives.

It recommended that many items in the budget be either slashed because they are too high or removed because they are duplicated in another government agency’s spending.
