National Secretary of All Progressive Congress, APC, Senator John Udoedeghe has advised interested members of the party in Akwa Ibom to stay clear of the 2023 governorship ticket as he remained the party’s authentic candidate for the election.
Addressing a press conference in Uyo on Monday to mark his 57th birthday anniversary, the former FCT minister observed that those who fought him before he defected to All Progressive Congress ( APC) in Akwa Ibom have regrouped to fight again over the party ticket in 2023 .
” When I led opposition in Akwa Ibom State many years ago , those who were fighting me were in PDP. I told them that change would take over the country and they never believed. Now all those who were fighting me are now in APC and they have perfected their plans to fight me again even in APC that they hated.” He said
Senator Udoedgehe , a board member of the Nigerian Ports Authority who advised Akwa Ibom people not to expect much from the Federal Government because President Mohammedu Buhari did not get substantial support and votes from the state however enjoined them to vote for the party in 2023 to attract development to the state.
He expressed pessimism on plans by the youths to float a juvenile party to outsmart the elders in 2023 saying such moves could be counter productive.
” When I became the chairman of Uyo local government at age of 33 , I never stopped my elders. As a Senator , I was the Chairman Senate Committee on Privatisation. A Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria without smiting my elders.Why should the youths plan to bench their elders now?” He queried.
He charged Journalists to always investigate all facts to establish the truth about public officers instead of publishing falsehood that redicule people.
“Please always cross check facts through investigative reporting and avoid being used by politicians to undermine some person’s integrity.” He advised.
