The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has said that the outcome of Nigeria’s next presidential election ultimately rests on divine will.
Speaking at a workers’ meeting at the Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Adeboye said human efforts alone do not determine leadership outcomes, urging Nigerians to remain calm as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections intensify.
He encouraged citizens to stay engaged in civic processes while maintaining a focus on prayer and peaceful conduct.
The cleric also addressed remarks attributed to activist Omoyele Sowore regarding religious leadership. Adeboye clarified that he does not see himself as a leader of all Christians in Nigeria, noting that national representation of Christians rests with the Christian Association of Nigeria.
He further dismissed claims circulating on social media suggesting that the Redeemed Christian Church of God is affiliated with any political party, stating that the church remains non-partisan while speaking on national issues affecting citizens.
Adeboye added that political figures are free to attend church services but would not be allowed to use the platform for campaign purposes.
He also stated that he would support any peaceful civic action organised by recognised bodies if it aligns with lawful and constructive engagement.
