Kaduna Gov Praises Tinubu for Approving Over N1trn Contracts to Transform State

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor, , has commended President for approving infrastructure contracts valued at over N1 trillion aimed at transforming the economic and social landscape of Kaduna State.

In a statement personally signed on Friday, the governor praised the Federal Executive Council for approving what he described as transformative projects that would significantly improve mobility, security and economic development in the state.

According to Sani, the projects include the Kaduna Light Rail Project, a 50-kilometre metropolitan rail network expected to cost about N1 trillion.

The proposed rail system will cover a 30-kilometre corridor from Rigachikun to Sabon Tasha and a 20-kilometre line linking Millennium City to Rigasa.

The governor also highlighted the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Mando–Kaduna–Birnin Gwari road, valued at N178 billion, describing it as a critical project with both economic and security importance.

“Together, these projects represent not merely investments in infrastructure, but a deliberate re-engineering of mobility, security, and economic vitality across Kaduna State,” he stated.

Sani noted that the Federal Government’s backing for the light rail initiative aligns with Kaduna State’s broader transport vision, including the ongoing 24-kilometre Bus Rapid Transit system.

He said Kaduna had taken a pioneering role in Northern Nigeria by developing a comprehensive transport policy focused on efficiency, safety, affordability and environmental sustainability.

The governor described Kaduna as one of the few states in the federation embarking on a light rail system, adding that the development reflects confidence in the state’s vision and execution capacity.

On the Mando–Birnin Gwari road rehabilitation, Sani recalled President Tinubu’s visit to Birnin Gwari before the 2023 general elections, when the area faced severe insecurity and infrastructural challenges.

He assured residents that the state government remains committed to the diligent implementation of the projects, describing them as long-term investments that would create a more prosperous, secure and connected Kaduna State.

“We thank Mr. President for his steadfast commitment to Kaduna State and to the equitable development of our nation,” the governor added.
