2023: INEC Has Not Approved Diaspora Registration, Oversea Voting – Dr Nentawa Yetwada

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in charge of Benue State, Dr Nentawa Yetwada says the Commission hasn’t approved Diaspora Registration and Oversea Voting.

Dr. Yetwada made this known at the expanded stakeholders’ meeting in Makurdi, the state capital on continuing voter registration by the umpire boby.

The Commissioner who explained that online registration could be done anywhere in the world, stressed however that the second aspect which is physical registration must be done in Nigeria.

Dr Yetwada maintained that people can access many people as they can using their mobile devices such as laptops, and computers to register online in the INEC web portal.

He pointed out that on the commencement of the physical registration INEC would release timetable which would be uploaded online for people to know when the officials would be in their Communities for the aforementioned exercise.

The Commissioner implored the Chairman of Local Governments in the state to support their staff with security, explaining that people who don’t access the internet would be attended to during the physical registration.

Dr. Yetwada enjoined members of the State House of Assembly to mobilize their constituents even as he tasked political parties, Traditional Rulers to take the awareness campaign seriously.
