2023: Luke consults NUJ, unveils pillars of governance

Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Judiciary, Barr Onofiok Luke yesterday consulted the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Akwa Ibom State Council on his intention to contest as Governor of Akwa Ibom in 2023.

Luke who described joirnalists as friends who have used their tools to promote him over the years sought for the support of members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm in his governorship ambition adding that he has consulted widely and received the endorsement of critical stakeholders.

According to him, he consulted the NUJ because the union has never failed him since his sojourn in the House of Assembly as the Speaker and member, House of Representatives for Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency.

“It is on the strength of what I have enjoyed form NUJ, that I have the courage to seek for your support and solidarity to succeed as governor come 2023” Luke declared.

“I am not just happening at the political landscape of Akwa Ibom, I have been schooled in the art of governance, hence, I will give you purposeful leadership and governance that will bring value to Akwa Ibom people” He said.

Luke assured that he would deploy his strength to make Akwa Ibom great and would continue to stand for equity, trustworthiness, hardwork, Peace, love and rightfulness adding that he would continue to defend the interest of the State and enthrone effective governance if elected.

The lawmaker announced the foundations of his aspiration to include to include, education, healthcare, entrepreneurial development, good governance, gender equity and inclusiveness, promising to articulate and push agenda that will aid the development of the State.

In a remark, state NUJ chairman ,Comrade Amos Etuk described Onofiok Luke as a leader with example and who has built synergy with the NUJ over the years.

He however assured that the union would give all aspirants a level playing field and thanked the aspirant for his enormous support to the NUJ and individual members and assured of partnership for optimal success.
