2024: AGE Empowers Over 2,000 Nigerian Researchers for ₦5bn NRF Grant

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The Academic and Grant Writing Enclave (AGE) has announced that it has empowered over 2,000 Nigerian researchers in preparation for the ₦5 billion National Research Fund (NRF) for 2024, aimed at boosting national innovation.

In a recent training session organized by AGE, more than 2,000 researchers from 58 universities, 20 polytechnics, 11 colleges of education, and 8 research institutes were equipped with the skills to enhance their chances of securing a portion of the NRF for 2024.

A release issued by AGE on Saturday after a webinar meeting highlighted the organization’s extensive impact, stating that over 13,000 participants have been trained, 650 institutions engaged, and a presence established in over 80 countries.

“Additionally, more than 400 academic professors, 6,800 PhD holders, and over 200 NGOs have benefited from AGE’s programs,” the statement read.

The Academic and Grant Writing Enclave (AGE) was established on December 13, 2023, and has since rapidly risen to global prominence.

During the webinar, Dr. Wadzani Dauda Palnam, Director of Research and Development at AGE, emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative for the future of Nigerian research. “By equipping scholars with the skills to write compelling concept notes, we are not only increasing their chances of securing funding but also ensuring that the research addresses our nation’s critical needs,” he said.

Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko, Vice Chancellor of AbdulKadir Kure University, added, “A strong concept note is key to securing funding. With the right guidance, our researchers can unlock significant resources to advance their projects.”

For those who missed the webinar or wish to revisit the content, AGE has made the presentation slides, links to watch the webinar, and a sample award-winning concept available on their website.
