2024 Flood: NEMA captures 16 states in second phase of data collection exercise

The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar has disclosed that 16 states across the nation are undergoing the second phase of post-disaster data collection assessment exercise.
The states involved areAbia, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Borno, Ekiti, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Ondo, Plateau, Sokoto, Yobe, Zamfara, and Abuja.

The DG explained that the 16 states were not covered included in the first phase data collection assessment from communities affected by the 2024 flood.

Umar who disclosed that the assessment is being carried out in collaboration with the States Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs), the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

“NEMA had established the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to focus on data collection for managing the 2024 flood disaster.”

She explained that the joint assessment exercise is in collaboration with the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMAS, aimed at providing unified, accurate representation of the flood’s impact across theffected states.
