‘I Wasn’t Happy’ – Patience Ozokwor Opens Up on Being Forced Into Early Marriage

Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has opened up about her early marriage and the emotional struggles she endured as a young bride.

She revealed that she was married at just 19, an age when she felt unprepared for the responsibilities that came with married life.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Isbae U, the actress described her early years in marriage as challenging and unfulfilling. However, she noted that her children later became a major source of joy and purpose in her life.

Ozokwor reflected on how life doesn’t always unfold as expected, adding that people can eventually find meaning in experiences that were once painful.

She explained that her perspective changed over time, especially as she began to focus on the positive outcomes of her journey.

“I was forced into marriage at 19. I wasn’t happy then, but looking at my children now, that unhappiness has faded,” she said.

“Life doesn’t always go as planned, and sometimes people discover purpose in what once felt painful. Despite the struggles I faced early on, I’m grateful for where I am today,” she added.
