2025 Youth Day: Senator Wadada Pledges Youth Inclusion, Donates Vehicle and N5m to NYCN Nasarawa

By Abel Zwanke, Lafia

As part of activities marking the 2025 International Youth Day, Senator Aliyu Ahmad Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, has reaffirmed his commitment to youth inclusion and empowerment. He made this pledge during an interactive session organized by the Nasarawa State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Lafia on Thursday.

The event, convened under the umbrella of the Coalition of Youth Organizations in Nasarawa State and chaired by NYCN State Chairman Comrade Ja’afar Muhammad Loko, brought together youth leaders, civil society representatives, and political stakeholders from across the state. Discussions focused on youth participation in governance, leadership succession, and sustainable empowerment strategies.

In his address, Senator Wadada emphasized that the future of Nasarawa State depends on empowering young people to take active roles in governance and decision-making. He also revealed his intention to contest for the governorship of Nasarawa State in the next general election.

“I believe the time has come for our young people to take their rightful place in leadership. My aspiration to lead Nasarawa State is rooted in service, inclusion, and the belief that our youths can transform our state if given the opportunity,” Wadada said.

Highlighting his record of people-centered initiatives and consistent engagement with communities across Nasarawa West, the senator said his leadership approach is guided by consultation and inclusivity. “Every project I embark on is inspired by the needs of my people. I have always believed in carrying everyone along, especially the youth, because they represent the future we must invest in today,” he added.

Demonstrating what participants described as a genuine commitment to youth development, Senator Wadada donated a brand-new vehicle to the Nasarawa State chapter of the NYCN to enhance its mobility and organizational operations. He also presented a ₦5 million cash donation to support the council’s logistics and ongoing activities.

Receiving the donations, Comrade Ja’afar Muhammad Loko expressed gratitude on behalf of the council, commending the senator’s long-standing support for youth initiatives in the state.

“We are deeply grateful to Senator Wadada for always identifying with the youths. His gesture today will go a long way in strengthening our operations and inspiring young people to remain focused and united for the progress of Nasarawa State,” Loko said.

He described the engagement as a milestone in youth-political dialogue, noting that such forums are essential for bridging the gap between policymakers and the younger generation.

Participants at the event, including youth representatives, civil society organizations, and political stakeholders, commended Senator Wadada’s open-door policy and his passion for youth empowerment. Many described his gesture as a model for other leaders seeking to promote inclusive governance and sustainable development.
