A pro-government group, the Progressives Network for Tinubu (PNT), has called on Nigerians to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, citing the need to sustain ongoing reforms and national transformation. The Director-General of PNT, Olumide Obadele, made the call on Wednesday during a world press conference held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists Press Centre, FCT Council Secretariat, Abuja.Obadele stated that the continuation of the Tinubu administration would enable the consolidation of key policy achievements recorded over the past three years. He noted that the administration had undertaken bold reforms aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy and strengthening critical sectors.According to him, major policy decisions by the government have been in the overall interest of Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora. He described the removal of fuel subsidy on May 29, 2023, as a pivotal step in Nigeria’s economic recovery, noting that funds previously spent on subsidy are now being redistributed among the three tiers of government for developmental purposes.Obadele also highlighted the liberalisation of the foreign exchange market by the Central Bank of Nigeria, explaining that it allows market forces to determine the value of the naira, thereby narrowing the gap between official and parallel market rates and enhancing economic stability. On education, he pointed to the achievements of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which he said has expanded access to tertiary education through financial support to students. He disclosed that over N206 billion has been disbursed to more than 1.16 million students since the scheme’s inception in 2024, including N128.84 billion for tuition and N77.45 billion for upkeep. He added that the initiative is designed to ensure that no Nigerian is denied access to higher education due to financial constraints.Speaking on infrastructure, Obadele listed major ongoing road projects such as the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, Trans-Saharan Highway, and the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe corridor. He said the projects are aimed at enhancing national integration and unlocking economic growth. He further commended reforms by the Ministry of Interior under the leadership of Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, particularly in passport processing and digitalisation.Citing data from the Henley Passport Index, Obadele said Nigeria’s passport ranking improved from 103rd position in 2025 to 89th in January 2026, enabling visa-free access to more destinations. He attributed the progress to reforms such as the adoption of polycarbonate technology and automated passport issuance systems. The PNT also described the recent state visit of President Tinubu to the United Kingdom at the invitation of King Charles III as a reflection of growing international recognition for Nigeria. The group urged Nigerians to actively participate in the democratic process and support the continuity of the current administration beyond 2027.“It is time for citizens to be part of building a nation they can be proud of by getting involved in the electoral process to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Obadele said.
