Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s quest for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027 is unattainable.

In a Facebook post, Igbokwe advised Atiku to postpone his presidential aspirations until 2031, arguing that age and other considerations would hinder his chances in the 2027 election.

He stated, “Former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is still dreaming of becoming president in 2027. It cannot fly, all things considered. He should wait till 2031. Even at that, age is not on his side.”

Igbokwe’s comments follow remarks by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, who suggested that no candidate from the North should challenge President Bola Tinubu’s bid for reelection in 2027.

Atiku, a veteran politician from Adamawa, has faced multiple unsuccessful attempts at the presidency, further fueling debates about his viability in the 2027 race. This story underscores the ongoing political dynamics within the APC and the challenges facing Atiku’s political future.
