More than 250 captains from various units of the Nigerian Army have begun their Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE). The exam aims to improve their understanding of military operations. It will help them better address the country’s current security challenges.
Major General Kevin Aligbe, Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC NA), spoke to the participants in Akure. He emphasized that the examination seeks to deepen their knowledge of military operations. This training is crucial due to ongoing security issues that require the deployment of army personnel for internal operations across Nigeria.
The officers will be tested in several key areas. These include Tactics and Low-Intensity Conflict, Map Reading, Radio Communication, and the French language.
General Aligbe stated, “The objective of this examination is to equip participants with a broader understanding of military operations.” He also encouraged candidates to pay attention to their health. Medical doctors and ambulances have been deployed to address any medical issues during the exam. Quality meals will be provided throughout the examination period.
He advised the officers to focus on their studies and avoid unnecessary social interactions. Although the security situation in Akure is currently stable, he urged vigilance.
Major General Obinna Onubogu, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, reiterated the importance of the examination.
