3 things you need to know about supreme court judgement on Tinubu

  1. Dismissal of suit: The Supreme Court has dismissed a suit seeking to disqualify President-elect Bola Tinubu and his running mate Kashim Shettima.
  2. Lack of locus standing: The court held that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lacked the legal standing to institute the suit as it is not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
  3. Breach of electoral provisions: The PDP had claimed that Shettima’s nomination violated several sections of the Electoral Act, alleging a contravention of the law by running for both vice-president and a senatorial seat simultaneously. However, the court’s ruling has cleared Tinubu and Shettima of these allegations.
