5 Months Salary arrears: N-Power Volunteers Stage Protest In Kaduna

Gabriel Udeh,

For non payment of five months salary arrears, the 2017 N-Power volunteers beneficiaries have embarked on a protest to show their displeasure over what they described as lukewarm attitude of the Kaduna state government to their plight.

The group who staged a peaceful protest at the entrance of the Kaduna Local Government Board in Kaduna on Monday said they are tired of work without pay in federal government scheme.

Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Abubakar Aliyu told journalists that they were engaged in November, 2017, adding that since their confirmation in August, 2018, no salary has been paid to them.

Aliyu alleged that some of beneficiaries who are close to the people in the government were paid only for the month of November, leaving others helplessly.

” Before now, the youth were tagged ‘lazy’, but now we have been working and we have not been paid since August.

” Majority of us have family that depend on us, and instead of us to get money from the work we are doing, rathern, reverse is the case, as many of us spend our money transporting ourselves to our point of duty, and no money was paid at the end of the month”, he explained.

He therefore urged Kaduna State to look into their plight and help them out of their current situation.
