1. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala
– Position: Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO)
– Description: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a Nigerian economist, assumed the role of Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in March 2021.
2. Akinwumi Adesina
– Position: President of the African Development Bank (AfDB)
– Description: Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, a Nigerian economist, has been serving as the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) since 2015.
3. Mustafa Balarabe Shehu
– Position: President of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations
– Description: Mustafa Balarabe Shehu, a Nigerian electrical engineer, recently made history as the 17th president of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, becoming the first Black African to hold this position.
4. Wale Edun
– Position: Chairman of the African Governors’ Forum (World Bank)
– Description: Wale Edun, Nigeria’s current Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, was appointed as the Chairman of the African Governors’ Forum by the World Bank, marking a significant first for Nigeria.
5. Amina Jane Mohammed
– Position: Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations
– Description: Amina Jane Mohammed, a British Nigerian, currently serves as the fifth Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. Previously, she held the role of Nigerian Minister of Environment from 2015 to 2016 and played a key role in the Post-2015 Development Agenda process. She also chairs the United Nations Sustainable Development Group.
