64 Kogi Polytechnic Staff Honoured by Outgoing Rector, Prof. Usman Ogbo

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

No fewer than 64 staff members of Kogi State Polytechnic were on Monday honoured in Lokoja by the outgoing Rector of the institution, Professor Salisu Usman Ogbo, in recognition of their meritorious service and contributions to the achievements recorded during his tenure.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Prof. Ogbo attributed the successes of his administration to the collective efforts, dedication and professionalism of staff across all cadres of the institution. He described the awardees as the “pillar of strength” and “unsung heroes” whose commitment and support made his stewardship impactful.

The Rector praised the staff for what he termed their extraordinary dedication, drive, selfless service and talent, noting that their level of commitment was unprecedented. According to him, the innovativeness, teamwork and results-oriented support demonstrated by staff members were exceptional and instrumental to the progress recorded by the polytechnic.

Prof. Ogbo specifically acknowledged the contributions of drivers, security personnel, messengers, cleaners, management staff and members of the Academic Board, stressing that their collective roles were vital to the smooth running of the institution.

The list of award recipients included principal officers, senior and junior staff, as well as the late Barrister William Ameh, who was honoured posthumously for his service to the polytechnic. His award was received on his behalf by his wife.

Among those recognised was the Deputy Rector, Dr. Samuel Olowo, who received an award for his unwavering support and loyalty over the past six years. The Polytechnic Bursar was also honoured for his financial prudence and steadfast commitment to the institution, alongside several other staff members who distinguished themselves during the period under review.

Prof. Ogbo commended the staff for their role in supporting sound decision-making throughout his tenure and urged them to sustain the same level of commitment in the interest of the institution’s continued growth and development.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Professor Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, as well as principal officers and members of the polytechnic community.
