Headquarters of Muslim World League based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia has disbursed Scholarship allowances to Eight Hundred and Seventeen Orphans in Sokoto State.
Delivering his speech during the ceremony, Mallam Sharafudden Sulaiman, Head of Department of Orphans Care also Representative of the Director General Nigeria Regional Office, said the program will covers Silame, Bodinga, Dange Shuni and Wamakko local governments.
Others he added are Binji, Sokoto North and South local governments respectively.
Speaking, the state Coordinator of the program Alh. Bashar Muhammad Sokoto, said the program was initiated in 2008 when Alh. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko was the state Governor but, due to insecurity bedeviling the world the program was shelved by Saudi Arabia.
He said the program is a continuous one as the beneficiaries are those screened since then,(2008) and they must produce evidence letters of the schools they are attending, such as end of term result, letter of admission into the school of Studies whether at secondary or Tertiary institutions before they are allowed to enjoy the gesture.
The coordinator, explained that the program was initiated by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko as member of the Muslim World League in order to assist the children of the poor to pursue their education.
He added that, the beneficiaries will receive the sum of three Hundred thousand Naira, down to two Hundred thousand Naira depending on where one is studying.
Some beneficiaries thanked senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for the gesture and prayed to almighty Allah to reward him abundantly.
The program was held at the sokoto North Senatorial District office along Garba Duba sokoto state.
