New NNPC GMD takes office today

*** Mele Kyari assumes office as the NNPC’s 19th group managing director

*** Takes over office from the past GMD, Maikanti Baru

*** Ceremony to take place at the NNPC Towers in Abuja

Mele Kyari, the newly appointed group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) will take over office today, Monday, July 8.

NNPC said Kyari will take over the office from the past GMD, Maikanti Baru who retired statutorily on Sunday, July 7.

Ndu Ughamadu,the spokesperson for the NNPC, while speaking on Sunday, July 7, in Abuja, said a ceremonial hand over would take place on Monday.

“Statutorily Dr. Baru retired today (Sunday). Today is a Sunday so we had to move the ceremonial hand over to Monday,” Ughamadu said.

Also, the corporation on its official Twitter handle gave details of the hand over ceremony.
