Family raises alarm over son’s disappearance in Enugu

The family of a middle aged man, Mr. Justice Okeke has raised alarm over his way abouts some years after he was last seen in his Nkanu community of Enugu State.

Mr. Okeke, who was also a driver to a popular politician in the area, was said to have been involved in several activities with the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, who are said to be pushing for the restoration of defunct Biafra Republic.

Our correspondent gathered that trouble started for Mr. Okeke when a top party member from the area was abducted from his residence, a development that was said to have been blamed on some IPOB members.

In what appears to be a revenge mission, Mr. Okeke was attacked by some unknown gunmen, during which his father was killed.

He was believed to have escaped from the attack but has not been seen anywhere ever since.

Speaking on the development, a member of his family, Mr. Sunday said they were worried over the fate of their brother.

He lamented that since 2018 that he was attacked alongside his father, every effort to trace him had proved abortive.

“The worst part of it is that the police are looking for him, claiming he is a member of IPOB. At the same time, some unknown gunmen would have killed him here, but he escaped. However, his father, who happened to be my elder brother was not lucky.

“Ever since then, we have not seen nor heard from him. We don’t know whether he is in police custody or they have killed him. We also don’t know whether those who killed his father have also taken his life,” he cried out.

He called on the security agencies to stop hunting after freedom agitators, stressing that “they should rather go after criminals who have made Nigeria the worst place to live in.”
