The Minority Leader, Mr Onyebuchi Offor Ekwusigo welcomed two lawmakers to PDP and commended them for their decision.
Ahead of the 2023 general election, two lawmakers on Tuesday John Nwokoye (Awka North) and Messrs Douglas Egbuna (Onitsha North)in Anambra State House of Assembly announced their defection from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Awka at a plenary.
Our correspondent reports that the defection has increased the number of PDP members from six to eight in the assembly.
The speaker,Mr Uche Okafor,gave the name of the Commissioner- nominee as Mr. Sylvester Ezeokenwa, who will be in charge of the Ministry of Special Duties,the confirmation of the nominee conducted during the plenary took place through a vote.
Our correspondent recalls that, the name of the commissioner – nominee for screening was submitted by the Governor in a letter to the assembly,dated 6th April,thereby increasing the number of commissioners to 21; therefore,the House adjourned till 26 April.
