Nigerians in USA and the Carribean Call on Emefiele to Run for President

…says he is the best to sustain Buhari Legacy

…pledges unwavering support

As the 2023 general election gathers momentum, there has been calls from different groups and Nigerians home and abroad, urging Chief Godwin Emefiele, the current CBN Governor to contest for the post of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

One of such groups, the USA/Carribean Support Group for Emefiele made the call in Washington DC during Towh Hall meeting coordinated by Kids in Need Society International (KINSI). In a press release signed and made available to the media immediately after the meeting by the Coordinator, Comrade Raph Agba Pedro, the group expressed satisfaction with Chief Emefiele’s stewardship as the CBN governor, adding that with what he has done with Nigeria’s economy, Nigeria will prosper and become an economic superpower if he is elected as president come 2023.

“We as a diaspora group have observed with keen interest the handling of Nigeria’s economy by Chief Emefiele and there is no doubt that he will make a wonderful president; the statement noted.

The group equally lauded the CBN governor for his excellent handling of the economy in the wake of the Covid-19, especially in the empowerment of Small and Medium Enterprises, agriculture, manufacturing and education which proved to be the best approach as the Nigerian economy emerged stronger than most economies around the world.

“A true leader is one who solves his peoples problems. When super powers were getting crushed by the impact of Covid-19, Emefiele decided to think outside the box, producing the best indigenous solution that saved the country and became a model for other countries. By keeping the economy running with trillions of loans to millions of Nigerian businessmen, the economy grew and stabilised when others were shrinking”, the statement added.

While pledging their unwavering support for his candidacy, the group promised to provide the funds needed for the expression of interest and the purchase of the party form since Mr. Emefiele, a public servant may not afford such high fees.

“We are well aware of the fact that the millions of Naira required by presidential candidates may be above the income of Mr. Emefiele as a public servant. That is why we’re mobilising resources to buy him the form and support his campaign to make sure Nigeria’s growth is sustained” the statement added.

Joining the Town Hall meeting via Zoom from Nigeria, the founder of KINSI, Rev Solomon Semaka equally echoed the concerns of the diaspora group and pledged to support Mr. Emefiele’s campaign with the sum of (10)ten million naira should he answer the people’s call. This, he said was his Organisations modest contribution to efforts being championed by well meaning Nigerians to bring about the desired leadership come 2023.

“This is my Organisations widows might, but it does not mean that is all we’ll do. We’ll continue to work with like minded individuals and groups to ensure this dream is a reality as there is no doubt that Mr Emefiele will bring about the much needed stability we have all been looking for”, he added.

The Town Hall meeting was attended by Nigerians from all over the USA and the Carribeans who were charged with the task of ensuring that Nigeria becomes a better place and a home to be proud of. The meeting equally expressed hope that the electoral process will allow diaspora voting in the near future.
