The Rector Taraba State Polytechnic Suntai, Dr Ayuba Abarshi has appealed to the Taraba state government to release funds budgeted in 2022 for the accreditation of courses in the institution.
Dr. Abarshi made the appeal on Saturday at the 2021/22 matriculation ceremony of 2400 Certificate and Diploma students of the polytechnic in Jalingo.
The rector said that though the issue of accreditation had been captured in the 2022 fiscal year, but yet to be released to the institution.
Dr. Abarshi however, lauded the Taraba state Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku for sponsorship of interim accreditation of five academic programmes in the polytechnic.
The rector thanked Governor Darius Ishaku for the regular payment of staff salaries in the state and the inauguration of the governing council alongside repairs of blown off roof by wind storm.
He further thanked the state government for the replacement of staff who either passed on and left as well as capturing the financial implications of accreditation of the polytechnic programmes in the 2022 budget.
Abarshi on the other hand requested the government to renovate the hostels in the Suntai campus as well as the provision of vehicles to members of the Governing Council.
The rector further solicited the repairs and handing over the hostels unoccupied in Suntai Campus and the allocation of the portion of land close to the stream behind the Jalingo campus to the polytechnic.
He encouraged members of the staff of the institution to work harder to groom students morally and academically.
He assured members of staff of enhanced welfare and better working environment to ensure high productivity.
The rector also urged them to impresse the state government for giving the required attention to the polytechnic.
In her remark, Madam Lydia Ambituni, Chair Person of the governing council thanked the polytechnic management for enhanced productivity.
Madam Ambituni assured the Management of the polytechnic of Governor Darius Ishaku redness to do all it take to make the polytechnic an enviable citadel of learning.
She urged newly matriculated students to operate inline with code of discipline of the institution.
Daybreak news reports that 2,400 students were matriculated from various courses and programmes as the ceremony was peaceful.
