Corper and nine tenants die in Lagos building collapse

A three-storey building has collapsed in the ebute meta area of Lagos State, claiming the lives of a corper, identified as Oluwakemi and nine tenants and 24 other occupants injured.

The incident happened at 9:30 pm on Sunday as occupants were in their various apartments.

Our Correspondent who visited the scene on Monday observed that some of the injured victims were treated and discharged at the spot while others while others were stabilized by emergency responders and later rushed to the hospital, others were able to navigate their ways out of the collapse structure.

One of the residents, Lanre shobaloju, said the tragedy happened because of government’s negligence, that the building has been in bad condition for years.

Emergency responders were sited at the scene on Monday; as at the time our Correspondent left the scene search and rescue was still going on.

Meanwhile the President, Muhammadu Buhari commiserates with the families of the deceased and those who sustained injuries; the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, disaster Management and Social Development,Sadiya Farouq also sympathized with the Lagos State Government and the families of the victims.
