Adamawa 2023: Three APC guber aspirant warned against unfair primaries

By Musa Isa Ahmed

Three of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirants in Adamawa state have cried fault against the alleged manipulative attempt by certain aspirant(s) and/or group to replace genuinely recognised party delegates ahead of the gubernatorial primary election scheduled for Friday May 20, 2022;

The three aspirants, Hon Umar Mustapha Madawaki a.k.a Otumba, Hon Abdurrazak Namdas and Hon Wafari Theman have in a press conference Tuesday jointly described the alleged ugly development as unacceptable.

The group explained that consensus candidacy has since been quashed having adopted indirect primary election.”We have participated in elections previously, we lost some and we won some, there is nothing in it provided that the elections are credible.

“We experienced the pains in losing and the gains of winning, therefore we are not afraid of going to the polls. We are ready to support any aspirant that genuinely emerged victorious in the interest of the party,” the group assured.They said they have discussed with electoral officials of the party in Abuja who would be in Yola to organize and monitor primary elections and have agreed on due process.

They said they know the legitimately selected delegates from their various constituencies. therefore any attempt at obnoxiously replacing genuine candidates, capable of rubbishing the free, fair and credible primary election would be resisted as relevant security agencies are already notified.The group listed the following accredited delegates for the gubernatorial primary election:

1- Chairman and Secretary

2- 5 Adhoc State Delegates from each ward

3- State Executive ( Exco members)

4- National Executive members

5- Serving and Past Governors and Deputy Governor’s within the state

6- Serving and Past National Assembly members

7- Serving and National Assembly members

8- Serving Elected Chairman and Vice Chairman of the council9- Serving Elected Councilors from each Electoral ward

10. Two selected women delegates each.
