Tambuwal Welcomes Constructive Criticism

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state says his administration welcomes constructive criticisms aimed at moving the state forward from any objective person or groups.

He stated this during a meeting with members of the state Social Media Organisation (SOSMO) held at the auditorium of Giginya Hotel Sokoto.

This, he said, is in view of the fact that leadership is all about protecting the interest of the people and their development.

The release by the Special Adviser on media and Publicity, Bello Muhammed further said the governor challenged social media users in the state and beyond to always assess the performance of Sokoto state government in comparison with those of its counterparts who have high revenue base.

He explained that it is unjustifiable to be comparing Sokoto State with states like Lagos, which despite its high revenue os enmeshed in debt to the tune of N780 billion; and has no visible infrastructure that can be likened to the about to be completed 1,500 beds capacity Sokoto State University Teaching Hospital.

He noted that despite its minimal resources Sokoto State is doing well in infrastructural development and social investment, seen in the areas of sponsorship programs and the activities of zakat and Endowment commission which is not obtainable in other states of the country.

Governor Tambuwal then commended the state social media influencers for their contributions to the state government, especially in the 2019 general polls when some internal and external forces wanted to oust him out of the government house.

In his remarks, the state chairman of SOSMO, Comrade Bashir Jabo thanked the governor for creating an avenue to interact with them.

He equally extolled the governor’s track record of leadership, his youth empowerment programs and youth inclusion in governance

According to him the association which was set up in 2014 was aimed at making social media users more influential and productive in the social media usage.
