Rep Beni Lar Gives Out N12m Relief Items To Communities

Ugar Ukandi Odey, Jos

House of Representatives Member for Langtang North/Langtang South federal constituency of Plateau state, Hon. Beni Lar, has donated relief materials worth N12 million naira to Kumbwang and Lyanjit communities of Langtang North LGA.
The two communities had a communal clash over land resulting in loss of lives, destruction of property, and humanitarian crisis as a result of displacement of persons.
Speaking during the presentation of the relief materials, Hon Lar said the development is as a result of a motion of urgent public importance she presented on the floor of the House urging it to direct the relevant Government agency like NEMA to intervene in the matter.
According to her, the materials include bundles of Zinc, cement, rice, beans, corn, vegetable oil, and zinc nails, stressing that they were in the communities to sympathize with them and to show that the Federal Government and indeed Nigerians care, and NEMA has responded to their situation.
“I am very happy that, at last, we can feel the Federal Government generosity and benevolence. I am also happy that the communities have resolved their difference and were able to apply the home grown internal mechanisms to resolve the dispute. As you heard them, they have vowed never to take up arms against each other again”, Lar noted.
She commended the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for providing relief materials to the people in order to cushion the effect of the crisis.
Speaking in the same vein, former Executive Chairman of Langtang North LGC, Dr. Joshua Ubandoma Laven commended the warring communities for their resolve to end the communal crises .
He urged them to continue to pursue sustainable peace for the growth and development of their communities, and emphasized that no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of rancour.
In his own remarks, the Chief Priest of one of the affected communities, Ponfa Peli, commended the effort of Hon. Beni Lar and NEMA for providing succour to the ravaged communities.
