How NDDC executed 2,506 Projects In 8 Years – Official

Must read

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has released a list showing it has completed at least 2,506 projects in the nine states of the Niger Delta since the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari began in 2015.

A statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday by the NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, Dr Ibitoye Abosede, said the listing of the projects had silenced critics, who he said were fond of branding the commission a failure.

The listing of the projects, according to the statement, is part of the new transparent and accountable leadership initiated by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Umana Okon Umana.

The list showed projects, their costs, contractors, benefitting communities, institutions and dates they were awarded to the firms.

Some of the types of projects undertaken by the commission were roads, shore protection, solar water, buildings, desilting, electricity and canalisation among others.

Abosede explained that the publication was in response to an increasing demand for accountability by members of the public.

“The purpose of this publication is to give the communities where the project is located the opportunity to verify and confirm that the listed projects were actually completed,” he said.

He urged the public to go through the list to help the commission hold the contractors to account where they failed to deliver according to expectation.
