Taraba Youths advocate dialogue to end Jukun/ Tiv crisis.

By Danzumi Ishaku Jalingo.

Southern Taraba Youths have identified genuine dialogue as the means to ending the frequent Jukun/ Tiv crisis while giving Tiv youths a 7 days ultimatum to reopen roads closed by the Tiv community.

Danladi Dodo spokesman of Southern Taraba Youths forum, gave the indication during a World Conference held in Jalingo the Taraba state headquarters on Saturday.

The group adduced that barrel of guns or social media cannot settle the crisis hence the need for both tribes to tow the part of peace.

They gave the Tiv community seven days ultimatum to reopen the roads from Wukari to Takum, Wukari to Donga, Takum to Katsina-Ala, Donga to Mararaba, Wukari-Kente and Wukari-Tsokundi, whose continuous closure have crippled economic and agricultural activities of the areas.

The Youth group demanded for the immediate recognition of the Jukun Wanu, Itulo and Wurkun that are resident in Benue state same political recognitions that the Tivs are enjoying in Taraba state.

The Southern Taraba Youths also frowned at the manner some mischief makers are bent on smearing the names of highly revered Governor of Taraba State Darius Dickson Ishaku and retired General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma despite several efforts they have made to broker peace.

They called on security operatives to clampdown on another one distorting peace around the Jukun and Tiv areas no matter how highly placed.

The group commended the Federal Government for setting up an investigation panel to unravel the killings of three policemen and a civilians in Ibbi local government area and commiserated with the family of the deceased.
