Jamb suspend 13 centres in Nasarawa for irregularities

By Abel Leonard Nzwanke/ Lafia

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has suspended no fewer than 13 centres out of 32 centres in Nasarawa State.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, revealed this while signing a Memorandum of Understanding towards equipping three Computer Based Test Centers with the Nasarawa state government in Government House, Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital on Thursday.

Oloyede, who was represented by the Director, Information Technology Service Department, Mr Fabian Okoro, said the 13 centres were suspended poor standard.

He said, “We have so many centres in Abuja during the last JAMB examinations, but a lot of them collapsed and they had to rush to Nasarawa State because of its proximity to the Federal Capital Territory.

“This is the first state-of-the-art CBT centre in the country. In the three centres, 250 candidates could be accommodated for three sets of 750 candidates, thereby making a total of 2,250 candidates daily.”

Abdullahi Sule further said, “I commend former governor and now Senator Umaru Al-Makura, who built the centres and the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, for his support towards equipping the three centres.

Similarly, the creation of this centers will alleviate the suffering of students of the state who have been travelling to centres outside the state to partake in the examination exercise.”

The governor said the centre would be operational for the 2020 examination and would accommodate students from Abuja and other states.
