Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, Bamidele Oloyeloogun, Resigns
In a significant development, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Bamidele Oloyeloogun, has officially resigned from his position. The resignation comes just days before the ninth Assembly’s term was set to end.
The Speaker’s decision to step down was communicated through a letter, dated June 1st, 2023, addressed to the House Clerk and bearing the official letterhead. Our correspondent obtained a copy of the letter on Friday. Titled “Resignation as Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly,” it stated that Rt. Hon. Oleyelogun, Bamidele David, would no longer serve as the Speaker, effective from Thursday.
“Dear esteemed colleagues,
I trust that you are well aware of the unwavering commitment and unity that have defined our Honourable House throughout our tenure. It is this very spirit that propelled me to the esteemed position of Speaker. In line with that very spirit, I hereby tender my resignation from this position.
I take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to all my colleagues, who have been exceptional partners in our journey towards progress. I must acknowledge and cherish the incredible support I received during my tenure as Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly. Rest assured, I will extend the same level of dedication and loyalty to whomever assumes the responsibility of Speaker in this esteemed House.
