APC Congratulates Balarabe on Emergence as Nasarawa Assembly Speaker, Crisis Finally Resolved

From Leo Zuanke, Nassarawa

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state has extended warm congratulations to Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdulahi on his emergence as the Speaker of the 7th Assembly in the state.

In a statement released on Friday and signed by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Douglas Otaru, the APC expressed delight in the successful resolution of the leadership crisis that had plagued the assembly for over six weeks.

The statement commended the entire members of the 7th Assembly for their efforts in reaching a harmonious resolution, which ultimately led to the swearing-in of Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdulahi as the Speaker.

The APC described the development as a victory for the people of Nasarawa state, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration for the progress and well-being of the state.

Recall that the crisis emerged on June 6, 2023, when two Speakers, Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi and Hon. Daniel Ogazi, were elected, causing a division among the members of the assembly. However, with the stepping down of Hon. Daniel Ogazi and the subsequent re-inauguration of the 7th Assembly, the long-standing leadership dispute has been finally laid to rest.

The APC acknowledged that certain stakeholders with vested interests had taken advantage of the crisis to cause confusion. Nevertheless, the party also extended appreciation to Hon. Ogazi and other members of his faction for their display of patriotism during the resolution process.

Looking forward, the APC expressed optimism for a more robust and impactful legislative tenure in office. The party urged the assembly members to continue their support for the programs and policies of Governor Abdullahi A Sule’s administration, with the goal of creating a more vibrant and egalitarian society.
