Major stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa State, have raised concern over what they described as disregard for faithful and loyal party men for appointments and nominations to key positions in the President Ahmed Tinubu led administration.
The stakeholders under the auspices of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Movement 2023, which includes members of the Tinubu Support Group, TSG, and all other coalition of support groups, frown at the recent happenings in the party that led to the nomination of Minister nominee from Bayelsa State.
In a protest letter, signed by the coordinator Mr. Ebitimi Jones, and Secretary Comrade, Livingston Amaebi, the group stated that the first and key opportunities of appointments would have been given to those who worked tiredlessly for the success of the party from the preliminary stages to the general election and not those who secretly worked against the interest of the party.
The letter reads “Your Excellency, it is with mixed feelings that we write you this protest letter on the recent developments in the party at the state levels.
While we want to congratulate you and our party on the victory at the general election and your successful inauguration as the President and commander in chief of the armed forces, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we however want to express our displeasure on the plans by some desperate politicians to displace most of your loyalist and replace them with enemies of the party in your appointments.
We understand that the power to fire and appoint rest with you as the President and Commander-In-Chief. However, we believe that those who laboured with you from the onset should be the first beneficiaries of key and major appointments, to avoid incidents that will provoke agitations among stakeholders as we look forward to the Nov 11 gubernatorial election in the state.
While we are urging that you look inward and select those who will protect the interest of the party and project your good policies, we want to point out that appointments should be based on merits to provide a wider representative and dividends of democracy across the state and the nation at large.
Party loyalist like Ebitimi Amgbare, has overtime shown that he was born with an innate tendency of taking risks, identifying and acting on opportunities, building bridges among stakeholders, itemizing targets amidst peaceful disposition and fulfillment of goals and above all remained the people’s choice.
We are writing to you, Your Excellency, to appoint men of integrity like Ebitimi Amgbare, hoping that in reward for being a preacher of your progressive message, a core loyalist of the Asiwaju, for a better and progressive Bayelsa and the APC.
