Federal Government Declares September 27 as Public Holiday for Eil-ul-Maulid Celebration

The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, September 27, 2023, as a public holiday in honor of the Eil-ul-Maulid celebration, which marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In a statement released on his behalf by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended his congratulations to Muslims for the opportunity to observe this year’s significant occasion. He encouraged them to embrace the spirit of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance—virtues that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) exemplified throughout his life.

Additionally, the Minister called upon the nation’s youth to adopt a strong work ethic and maintain peaceful relations with fellow citizens, regardless of differences in faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity. This declaration aims to foster unity and understanding among all members of society.
