Tinubu’s Wife speaks on Supreme Court’s Ruling

By Daniel Edu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has disclosed the significant outcome from the Supreme Court in favor of her husband, President Bola Tinubu. This revelation pertains to the proceedings concerning petitions lodged against him by aggrieved presidential candidates for the 2023 elections.

On October 26, 2023, the Supreme Court upheld President Tinubu as the rightful winner of the presidential election held on February 25th of the same year. The court’s decision was delivered last Thursday, with Justice John Okoro presiding, and it dismissed all appeals made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party. These appeals were challenging an earlier ruling by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. The Supreme Court ruled that the petitions brought by the aggrieved candidates lacked merit.

Speaking in Owerri, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who led All Progressives Congress (APC) women at a campaign rally in support of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s re-election bid, expressed her satisfaction with the court’s verdict. She referred to the Supreme Court’s decision as a manifestation of divine intervention and a “Lord’s doing.”

Mrs. Tinubu also took the opportunity to assure the people of Imo that her husband, President Tinubu, remains committed to his promise to transform the South East into an industrial hub of Nigeria. She stated, “You can see, the court has already given my husband a clean bill, and we believe that this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.” She encouraged the residents of Imo to cast their votes for the incumbent governor in the November 11, 2023, election, emphasizing that President Tinubu’s commitment to making the South East an industrial hub would begin with the development of Imo State.
