In a daring move, a motorboy named Bolaji Johnson reportedly vanished with a truck loaded with 600 bags of cement on Tuesday, leaving the truck driver and authorities in dismay.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, Adelakun Joshua, the truck driver, had entrusted the vehicle to Johnson for loading at the Dangote Cement Plant in Ibese, Ogun State. While Joshua remained at the site, Johnson allegedly made off with the truck after it was loaded with the 600 bags of cement.
Issa Saheed, the truck manager from the Ifytex Company, Ibese, reported the theft at the Imashayi Police Division. The truck, with the number plate WDL 643 XA, has proven elusive despite efforts to locate both the loaded vehicle and the motorboy.
The driver, Adelakun Joshua, is reportedly cooperating with the investigation into the incident. The police are intensifying efforts to address the increasing trend of drivers and their motorboys conspiring to steal trucks. To curb this, the Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodu, has announced plans for more stop-and-search operations targeting trucks on the roads.
