Role of CSOs in democracy to headline Ist annual Conference in Uyo

The role of the Civil Society and good governance in a democracy would be the major talking point as the 1st Annual Civil Society Conference in Akwa Ibom would hold in Uyo this Friday.
Organised by the Center for Human Rights & Accountability Network (CHRAN), the conference with the theme,” Civil Society and good governance in a democracy”  would be Chaired by the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Inter-Governmental Affairs Rt. Hon. Ime Okon.
A statement endorsed by the state director of CHRAN, Comrade Franklin Isong in Uyo yesterday indicated that participants would be drawn from leaders and members of civil society organisations, human rights groups, professional bodies, town unions, non-governmental organisations and community based organisations.
The event which is expected to feature interactive sessions would have a Guest Speaker  a renowned Professor of Economics and Public Policy and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Prof. Akpan Ekpo.
It further indicated that the Guest of Honour would be the Political Leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob while the Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson, would serve as the Special Guest.
