Former Plateau South senator and ambassador-designate to South Korea, Nora Daduut, has donated a Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre in Plateau State and facilitated ICT training for more than 100 students.
The facility, located in Kwala community, Quan’pan Local Government Area, is intended to improve access to examination centres and strengthen digital literacy among rural students. Daduut said the initiative followed challenges observed during recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) sessions, where some candidates struggled with computer-based testing due to limited exposure to digital tools.
She said the centre would serve both as a JAMB examination venue and a training hub for students and community members. According to her, early exposure to computer education is essential for academic success and participation in a technology-driven environment. Daduut added that she had previously supported the establishment of a similar ICT centre in Namu community, describing the latest project as part of her ongoing efforts to promote grassroots education and youth development.
Speaking at the commissioning, the traditional ruler of Kwala Moeda District, Paul Donglong, commended the initiative and urged residents to make effective use of the facility. Some beneficiaries described the project as timely. A participant, Fabian Shalong, said it would improve students’ confidence in computer-based examinations, while another, Boemfu Timothy, noted its potential to enhance digital skills in the community.
