**Presidency Applauds Nigerian Grammy Nominees: Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, and Ayra Starr Shine at 66th Grammy Awards**

By Daniel Edu

The Presidency has expressed congratulations to Nigerian musicians, including Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, and Ayra Starr, following their nominations in the upcoming 66th Grammy Awards. Bayo Onanuga, a presidential aide, took to his verified social media handle on Friday night to acknowledge the achievements of the artists.

In his post, Onanuga wrote: “Congratulations to Nigerian singers Davido, Burna Boy, Asake/Olamide, and Ayra Starr for their nominations in the 66th Grammy Awards, which will take place on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.”

This recognition comes as Davido secures his first-ever Grammy nomination with three nods for songs from his 2023 studio album, ‘Timeless.’ Burna Boy, already a multiple Grammy nominee, has now earned four nominations in the 2024 Grammy list, solidifying his status as the Nigerian artist with the most nominations in the award’s history. His song ‘Sittin’ On Top of The World’ made history by becoming the first African song to be nominated in the Rap category.

Ayra Starr, the 21-year-old sensation, has become the youngest Nigerian to receive a Grammy nomination. Her hit song ‘Rush’ is nominated in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys. Additionally, Olamide has etched his name in history as the first Nigerian rapper to receive a Grammy nomination. His collaborative track with Asake, ‘Amapiano,’ has been nominated in the maiden Best African Music Performance category.

The recognition of these Nigerian artists at the Grammy Awards highlights the global impact and recognition of Nigerian music on the international stage. The ceremony is anticipated to take place in Los Angeles on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena.
