Cultist Suspects Fatally Shoot Man After Football Match in Port Harcourt

Gunmen suspected to be cultists fatally shot a young man, Akpan, in Port Harcourt’s Rumukalabo area. Akpan, also known as Fregene, was ambushed on his way home after watching a football match. The assailants, who had been tailing him, shot him twice in the neck at close range before fleeing, leaving the victim in a pool of blood. Witnesses described the aftermath as chaotic, with residents fleeing the once-peaceful area. Concerns among locals ranged from potential police mass arrests to calls for a thorough investigation. Akpan, originally from Akwa Ibom State, had been a resident of Port Harcourt for several years. The state police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, was yet to provide information from the local police division at the time of this report on Thursday night.
